Now, you may think that you’re a Greek. You might be Greek-American or you might even be a first-generation, full-blooded Greek with citizenship papers and all that. But if this isn’t your car....Well then, you’re just not Greek enough, my friend!

Greeker than thou
We
snapped this picture earlier today. We came upon this rather
unexpected sight while driving around town and we raced home to grab
our camera because we didn’t think anyone would believe us if we didn’t
have some evidence.

The Greeklish term for this is "Ellinaras", roughly translated as "Big Greek". the saddest thing is that an Ellinaras generally considers the term as a kind of compliment, when it is supposed to have the opposite effect.
This thing could only happen outside of Greece. This car would be certainly vandalized immediately in Greece. Though key scratches and abusive graffitti would be a definite aesthetic improvement... Re: Greeker than thou

Unfortunately Antonis is wrong. Last year when Greece won the EURO championships I had the pleasure of meeting Saki. Saki had taken his 30 year old Opel and done the exact same thing to his car.
In Northern Greece the car was revered just as Herbie "the love bug" is in mexico and "Kit" from knightrider is revered in Germany. But I agree that this guy is a Big Greek just like Saki. Re: Greeker than thou
