Χαιρετίσματα!

Blogs are often depicted by the media in one of two major contexts. If you follow the news regularly, you have likely run into these themes at different times within the last year or so. Generally speaking, the media would have you believe the following:

(1) Blogs influence U.S. presidential elections

(2) Blogs get people fired from their jobs.

Suffice it to say that we are not really looking to accomplish either of the above objectives through this site right now (Although I suppose we wouldn’t rule one at least of them out as a future endeavor). Greeklish.org will feature a fair amount of opinion and the like, but we will also use the site for updates on family news and photo galleries.

Our site is set up through Domain Direct using their BlogID package. This package is relatively new and some features (specifically relating to the display of Greek characters) are not without some kinks and bugs. But generally speaking, this package appears to be very good and the blogware features will enhance the Greeklish.org experience as our site content expands.

The image featured at the top of this page is a photo I snapped on the roof of Thia Lena’s apartment building in Neos Kosmos, which is in Athens, Greece. The Acropolis stands atop the center hill.

A special note of thanks goes to cultural authority Anthony Megremis, who helped with the Greek and phonetic titles on this page.  Also a big thank you to masterblogger Trevor Schroeder who unwittingly provided the inspiration for our new site with his incomparable work, No Signal.
