In reference to the previous post, our good friend Corey asks: "What the hell is more important than a talking dog???"

A fine question indeed, as the matter was very important.  It turns out we had a spurious charge on our credit card bill.  It had jumped out at Thomai because the card had a zero balance except for the charge in question.  The charge was from 5/1 or 5/2 and it was for $9.55 to a place called "Astor Berning."  A quick Googling revealed that this was indeed a relatively new scam.  A few forums discussed this in some detail.  Here is a link to one of them.

We had some luck with our credit card company, who immediately cancelled the charge.  We then cancelled the card altogether for good measure.  There's no conclusive link to PayPal or eBay, so this may not necessarily be a phishing scheme per se.  In fact, it looks more likely that someone hacked the credit card company, since some of the victims in the discussion groups said that they had stayed away from online banking, et cetera.  Perhaps one of our Greek relations knows how to send the "evil eye" via the Internet…

Domino has declined to comment on the matter.
